Overview

Belmont Baptist Church is a non-profit religious organization. We collect personal information only to operate our children's ministry programs and to communicate with the parents and guardians of the children in our care. We never sell, rent, or trade personal information for profit.

This policy covers every children's ministry program and event we run, including Awana (our Wednesday evening children's program), Vacation Bible School, and BBC Kids, along with one-off children's events. One registration and one text-message consent covers them all — you do not sign up again each time a new program starts.

Information we collect

When you register a child, we may collect:

We do not purchase contact lists and we do not gather information about you from data brokers. Everything we hold about your family came from you.

How we use it

SMS / text messaging

Opt-in

Text messaging is optional and you must expressly opt in. Consent is collected by ticking the SMS-consent checkbox on the registration form for whichever children's ministry program you are signing up for — the current one is at belmontbaptistchurch.com/awana/register.html, and all of our forms are listed at belmontbaptistchurch.com/text-alerts.html — on the matching paper registration form, or by telling a staff member directly. The checkbox is never ticked for you. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of registering for or participating in any program.

Consenting once covers texts about all of our children's ministry programs and events. You can stop them all at any time by replying STOP.

What we send

Check-in and pickup notifications for your child, schedule updates, weather and safety alerts, event reminders, and ministry updates for Awana, Vacation Bible School, BBC Kids, and other children's ministry events. We do not send marketing, advertising, or fundraising texts.

How often

Message frequency varies by program. For Awana, expect roughly 1–3 messages on a Wednesday your child attends. During VBS week the volume is higher — typically a few messages per day at most. Outside those times, messages are occasional.

Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. We send one confirmation and then stop texting that number. Reply START to rejoin, or HELP for help. You can also call or email the church office at any time. Message and data rates may apply.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.

Mobile numbers are passed only to our messaging provider (Twilio) for the sole purpose of delivering the messages described above. Twilio may not use those numbers for its own marketing.

Who else sees your information

That is the whole list. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.

Children's information

Information about a child comes from that child's parent or guardian and is used only to care for the child during our programs and to communicate with their parent or guardian. We do not market to children.

Keeping and protecting information

We keep information only as long as it is needed for ministry purposes and reasonable record-keeping, after which it is deleted or archived. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect it.
